Genetic variations that produce differences in medication response among individuals or populations are the subject of this branch of pharmacology. Succinyl choline, for example, is a skeletal muscle relaxant used in general anaesthesia. It's processed by pseudo choline esterase and only lasts a brief time. The gene determines whether an enzyme is present, and its absence is inherited recessively. This will ultimately lead to paralysis of respiratory system and death.
